The Early Years

Arian Foster was born on August 24, 1986, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He grew up in a small town in Tennessee and played football from a young age. Foster was a standout player in high school, leading his team to a state championship. Despite his success, he was not recruited by any major colleges.

College Career

Foster attended the University of Tennessee, where he played for the Volunteers. He was a redshirt freshman in 2005 and did not see much playing time. In 2006, he became a starter and led the team in rushing. Foster continued to be a key player for Tennessee in 2007 and 2008, earning All-SEC honors both years.

Professional Career

After going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, Foster signed with the Houston Texans as a free agent. He made the team and quickly became a key player in the Texans' offense. Foster led the NFL in rushing yards in 2010 and 2011, becoming one of the most productive running backs in the league. He was also named to the Pro Bowl both years.

In 2012, Foster signed a five-year, $43.5 million contract extension with the Texans. He continued to be a productive player for the Texans, helping them to the playoffs in 2012 and 2013. However, Foster began to have injury problems in 2014 and missed most of the season. He was released by the Texans in 2016.

Foster signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2016, but he was released before the start of the season. He then signed with the Detroit Lions, where he played for two seasons before retiring in 2017.

Legacy

Arian Foster is one of the most successful running backs in NFL history. He was named to the Pro Bowl four times and led the NFL in rushing yards twice. Foster was also a key player for the Texans, helping them to the playoffs multiple times.
