In 1978, I embarked on a three-year adventure in the British Virgin Islands. I was drawn to the islands by their natural beauty, rich history, and friendly people. I spent my time exploring the islands' rainforests, hiking its trails, and sailing its waters. I also spent time birdwatching, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

During my time in the British Virgin Islands, I kept a journal of my experiences. I wrote about the people I met, the places I visited, and the things I learned. I also took many photographs of the islands' natural beauty.

In this book, I share my experiences from those three years. I hope that my words and photographs will inspire you to visit the British Virgin Islands and experience its unique beauty for yourself.

The British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are a group of about 60 islands located in the Caribbean Sea. The islands are a British Overseas Territory. The largest island is Tortola, which is home to the capital city of Road Town.

The British Virgin Islands are known for their beautiful beaches, clear waters, and lush rainforests. The islands are also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and fish.

My Time in the British Virgin Islands

I arrived in the British Virgin Islands in 1978. I immediately fell in love with the islands' natural beauty. I spent my first few days exploring the island of Tortola. I hiked to the top of Mount Sage, the highest point on the island. I also visited the Baths, a series of large boulders that have been eroded by the sea.

After a few days on Tortola, I took a ferry to the island of Virgin Gorda. I spent several days hiking in the Gorda Peak National Park. I also visited The Baths, a series of sea caves and pools.

I continued to explore the British Virgin Islands for the next three years. I visited the islands of Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, and Peter Island. I also sailed to the islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy.

During my time in the British Virgin Islands, I met many interesting people. I learned about the islands' history and culture. I also learned a lot about the islands' natural environment.
