Roberts Ridge is a gripping memoir by Malcolm Macpherson, an elite sniper in the US Navy SEALs. It recounts his harrowing experiences during the Battle of Najaf in Iraq, where he witnessed the death of his close friend and fellow SEAL, Ryan Job. Through vivid prose and unflinching honesty, Macpherson explores the horrors of war, the bonds of brotherhood, and the search for redemption.

On March 23, 2004, Macpherson and his team were assigned to secure a strategic bridge in Najaf, Iraq. As they approached the bridge, they came under heavy fire from insurgents. In the ensuing chaos, Job was shot and killed. Macpherson was devastated by the loss of his friend and vowed to avenge his death.

In the aftermath of the battle, Macpherson struggled with PTSD and survivor's guilt. He left the SEALs and returned home to California, where he tried to piece his life back together. However, he found it difficult to adjust to civilian life and was haunted by nightmares about the war.

Years later, Macpherson decided to write Roberts Ridge as a way to process his experiences and honor the memory of his friend. The book is a powerful and moving account of war, loss, and redemption. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the human cost of war and the resilience of the human spirit.
