Gerda Weissmann Klein was a young woman when she was sent to a Nazi concentration camp. She endured unimaginable horrors, but she never gave up hope. In her memoir, All But My Life, Klein tells her story of survival, resilience, and the power of the human spirit.

Klein was born in Bielsko, Poland, in 1924. She lived a happy and carefree life until the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939. Klein and her family were forced into a ghetto, and later, they were sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

At Auschwitz, Klein was subjected to unimaginable horrors. She was starved, beaten, and forced to work in the camp's factories. She watched as her friends and family members were murdered. But Klein never gave up hope. She believed that she would survive, and she did.

In 1945, Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet army. Klein was one of the few survivors. She weighed only 68 pounds and was covered in sores. But she was alive.

After the war, Klein immigrated to the United States. She met and married Kurt Klein, a fellow Holocaust survivor. The couple had two children and lived a happy and fulfilling life.

Klein died in 2016 at the age of 92. But her story continues to inspire people around the world. All But My Life is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit.
